Colombia (September 7 -14, 2019)
Although the newest IMRB (accepted in Novokuznetsk Russia 2019) Colombia felt it was necessary to show the mines rescue world how safety and emergency response are improving. Fittingly the conference was titled “Together we save Lives”. Over the past several years Colombia has modernized mine rescue by replacing their aging inventory with “state of the art” rescue equipment. In addition they have established a biennial mine rescue competition that has helped, not only to evaluate rescue training standards but also it has expanded interest in mines rescue and prevention across it’s massive mining industry.
Colombia is the first Latin country to join IMRB and currently the only South American member.
The Conference began with a workshop which will reshape the future of the IMRB. The IMRC was officially absorbed as an IMRB entity and this will ensure that competition rules and standards are established and maintained.
More than 500 delegates from 24 countries attended the IMRB in Bogota, making it the largest attended IMRB conference on record. Delegates were given the opportunity to participate in a Masters workshop, visit underground coal mines and visit a national training center.
